The Middle Buffalo
The middle section of the Buffalo River runs from Carver to South Maumee points. The river levels are consistent enough that you can paddle on the river year-round. This section is an easier float than the upper end, which has more white water and rapids at high water levels, but it is just as pretty with limestone cliffs, wildlife, and scenery. There are a variety of float trip lengths between put-in and take-out points, so check with the Park service to see which fits your skill and schedule.
The Visitor Center for the river is at Tyler Bend. It is an outstanding facility with exhibits, hiking trails, park information and ranger programs.
Camping is allowed in designated campgrounds, as well as backcountry camping on the river.
There are many cabins available for rental, plus day hikes and points of interest to see.
