SERVING AMERICA'S FIRST NATIONAL WILD RIVER

The Lower Buffalo

The lower section of the Buffalo River runs from Maumee North to its end where the river joins the White River at Buffalo City. This section is floatable year-round, and is known for calm waters. There is world-class trout fishing from Rush Landing to the confluence with the White River. The Buffalo and Crooked Creek are designated as blue ribbon streams for trophy small mouth bass fishing. There are several Park Service authorized concessioners that have guides available for hire to take you out in your boat, or there are john boats for rental.

There are campgrounds at various points along the river, and backcountry camping is allowed year-round on the river. Please be prepared and be aware of water levels. The river can change fast, and it is up to you to be responsible for your own safety.

This section has a unique attraction you don’t want to miss…The Ghost Town of Rush. It is a historic abandoned mining town with buildings to explore, as well as a good birding area.
